Kranj is a pleasant town with a rich history, culture and architecture. As the regional center of Upper Carniola, Kranj is also called Preseren’s town, because the greatest Slovene poet France Preseren lived and created his work here.

The town stands on a rocky pier over the confluence of the mountain rivers Sava and Kokra. For tourists, the whole town has interesting surroundings. Above all, stands the Šmarjetna mountain from which there is a magnificent view of the whole town and his surrounding lakes.

Kranj is also an athletically (because it has one of the most beautiful Olympic pools in Central Europe as well as a jumping center), academically and industrially significant town.
